1 Corinthians 8:6 reads, “But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by Him.”

In these troubling times in which we live, people worldwide are looking for hope and answers to the wars, disease, famines, earthquakes, floods, and poverty.  There is no lasting peace, perfect health, global security, or guaranteed prosperity to be found upon this earth! Mankind has short lived moments of victory, but alas there is no constant eternal solution apart from Jesus Christ! No one will ever understand the sufficiency of Jesus being everything, until they see that JESUS is truly ALL they really have!

Jesus is everything!  If we understood this, we would spend more time learning about Him and put more effort into cultivating our relationship with Him. We are much like the church at Ephesus in that we have left our first love. Because we are no longer absorbed with Jesus or understand what it is to cultivate a relationship with Him, we are chasing after all kinds of meaningless things. We need to be reminded that everything we need for this life can be found in JESUS, alone!

The Bible teaches that we mature as we come to a greater realization of what we already have in Jesus Christ. The Gospel is about what Jesus alone did for undeserving sinners. When we are focusing in depth upon Jesus’ life work, we come to understand how desperately we need a personal advocate, mediator, and friend. What we need most, however, is a personal Savior who has done for us and secured for us what we could never do for ourselves. “God does everything through people who understand they are nothing. And God does nothing through those that think they are everything.” – Tullian Tchividjian

The whole goal of Christian living is to pursue Jesus Christ. The more we learn about Jesus, the more He becomes a part of us. No matter how much we think we know about Jesus, John 21:25 reminds us that the world could not contain enough books to record everything there is to know about Him. As we focus on the life of Jesus in depth this next year, we will learn some amazing things about Him! Hopefully, He will get into our hearts and minds and will renovate our living.  Jesus is everything and everything is yours when you are in Christ. Jesus is all and is in all. Since this is true, Jesus must be the focus of our lives, the object of our affection, the heart and soul of our homes, lives, and service.  When you have Jesus, you truly have everything!  Charles H. Spurgeon said, “If Christ be anything, He must be everything. O rest not till love and faith in Jesus be the master passions of your soul.”

JESUS IS everything,
